Good Morning Professor and classmates
I. “Wikipedia and other public search engines give fantastic searching strength — but they can also be a deliberate confusion for learners (Barnett 2018). While many people feel more satisfied utilizing search engines like Wikipedia compared to library databases; this can hurt one’s paper and credibility in many ways. Search outcomes and unsubstantiated listings like those discovered in Wikipedia pages are changeable and sometimes problematic. Anyone can modify the data in Wikipedia, so other legitimate academic sources should carefully verify any data obtained from there.
II. On the other hand, the information in a library goes into a severe vetting process as administrators choose them to incorporate in their acquisitions. Some web sites are also vetted to the range of matching and setting sites into a categorization system. Nevertheless, some sections have been accumulated by “spiders” or “robots” for search engines and do not go through the identical method. Much like Wikipedia, anyone can design a web page that says whatever data they choose, whether it is valid or not so caution must be applied when using web sites. Dot org websites are usually for non-profit institutions, and while many attempts to contribute impartial data, there are institutions that simply present data that support their agendas and goals. So, these sites should also be verified by reliable sources.
III. Accuracy has always been the major hurdle to writers. With so many different media terminals available, one must be cautious when picking one to use, whether it is a physical newspaper or computerized media. Newspapers and electronic media are likely to have typos, grammatical faults, and at times write prevarications that must later be retracted. When using one of these sources, one must assure the story was not later removed or that one is not using statements that were intended to mean something else, but because of incorrect grammar, the meaning has been misunderstood. One must always strive to obtain various sources that affirm his/her point and double check the soundness before utilizing them.

Good Morning class,
Wikipedia unfortunately is unreliable because anybody can edit it. I remember when I was in high school attempting to do research and the teacher showed us how easy it was to edit the site. Since anyone can edit the website, they are able to put in their own opinions on topics. Since Wikipedia is a volunteer ran project, not all information cannot be verified which leads to it being unreliable.
When it comes to .org websites you have to be careful because this is an non-profit organizations which means they may try to persuade people rather than educate. These websites can be very one-sided and may attempt to persuade you one way on a topic.
Current affairs in the news media can be unreliable for multiple reasons. It seems when a situation arises they write reports without all the information just so they can be the first to report. This can be bad because you don’t have both sides of the story. Certain reporters only want to display one side of the story as well to possibly persuade the viewers/readers to lean a certain way. Finding accurate articles may take some time. I would take multiple articles from different sources and compare and contrast the facts I am looking for. There is a lot of fake news outlets that people set up to make people think the news and articles are real. If you are using news for research I would stick to the big name credible news outlets.
In conclusion, stay away from Wikipedia due to the fact that anyone can edit the topic you are looking for. When you are doing research, try and stick to the websites that are there to educate you such as .edu. Lastly, make sure the news outlets are covering the whole story and its from a credible news source not the Facebook news network.
Thank you,
Eric
