Judges will select one potential winner based on the criteria of writing ability (25 percent), creativity (25 percent), originality (25 percent), and overall excellence (25 percent). In the event of a tie, the potential winner will be the applicant with the higher score for overall excellence.
A complete application must include a short original, previously unpublished written response to the topic:
“Not every gift has to be expensive or extravagant. In fact, sometimes it’s the sweet and simple things that make a real difference in our lives. Think back and tell us about something you received as a gift and why it meant so much to you.” The student’s written response must be written in English, with correct spelling and grammar, and it must not exceed 250 words.
-No sources, only original writing.
Example: Think back to a time when you received a special gift that seemed so unassuming yet made such a strong impact in your life. Was it a present you could open in a box or a humble gesture from a stranger?
